What would you change about the political system to make it more representative?
‘I think they should listen to us more. They think we’re not worth knowing. That’s the way political parties think today: “Fuck them.” Pardon the language and that... Yeah, they’re not interested in the people that vote for them... know what I mean? When do you ever see Donald Dewar or Alex Salmond going round skippers and asking them how they feel? They don’t. They go out to Bearsden and speak to the folk with nice big houses and cars and that.’
Steve – CCI

‘I think elections should be every two years or something. It should be more involved.’
John – JSH

‘Yeah, elections should be every two years... sometimes it’s like there’s a moral issue and you don’t want to let it slide... and four years is quite a long time to let it go.’
Tracey – CCI

‘Aye, if we voted every two years, and if they can make their ideas work; like better education, better houses, hostels for homeless people or something and if they stuck to them. I know it would take time, but if they did that then I’d feel that my vote’s changed things to give what the Scottish people wanted.’
John – JSH

‘Well, I think direct action is more important... Even if voting does make a difference it’s like only every four years, whatever. You can do so much more in between times, achieve so much more. People who complain about things... well, they could go out and do things to change it... as you’re not going to change things if you vote. But if you do direct action then you’re entitled to complain because you’re sort of doing something about it.’
Katey – FPC

‘Why do I want someone else to represent my views on things? Really? Because at the end of the day everyone’s their own individual person. Everyone’s got a mind of their own; and the way I see it, the world’s going to be the way the world is, and those idiots can’t change it.’
Maggie – JSH
