Do you think voting changes anything?
‘– I trust nobody. They’ve all got fucking skirts on and shagging each other… how can you trust them to run a country, the bastards. They’re all a bunch of cissies, running about shagging in the government... How the fuck can you trust somebody like that? You’d be better off having a rapist take care of you wouldn’t you.
– I believe they want to change things.
–Aye, change things to wearing tights man.’
George and Euan – PYOI

‘No, I don’t because it doesn’t really matter who gets in to power, they basically follow through the will of the multi–national corporations, so they just change the style and keep going with the same policies just with a different style behind it. Because, like, if any government does anything that’s too economically devastating to any of the large companies, then those large companies will use economic blackmail, the threat of removing business from the country, which they are perfectly entitled to do under the Free Trade agreement, so basically governments have got to do as the multi–nationals dictate.’
Hoosie – FPC

‘If we voted for things to change in here it would be a benefit then, know what I mean?’
Steve – PYOI

‘No. If they’d go out and listen to everybody’s needs and what they want maybe it would help other people, but they’re all doing it for themselves. They want to come first and once they’ve become an MP, that’s it! You’re finished and done with, they don’t want you any more.’
Nisha – LTS

‘Sometimes it does. It changes things for the better, sometimes for worse. So it does change things, aye… but, because I’ve not been out, I don’t know much about it. If I was out there probably I would know more about it, about what I wanted to vote for and stuff... because you think the opportunity is there for you. It’s open, then it’s a choice. Now, we’ve not got a choice... I’m here on a three-year-stretch, I don’t even know what a pint of milk costs or nothing, you know what I mean?... I don’t know anything about outside, you know, I didn’t even know there was an election.’
Euan – PYOI

‘No, because it doesn’t matter what party gets in, they’re all the same, exactly all the same... these people are absolutely rich... they don’t do anything for me whatsoever. I can live quite happily without the government.’
Craig – FPC
